چکیده

The modem theory of electrical conduction in metals, according to which the metal is dissociated to give a positive ion of low mobility, which is characteristic of the metal, and a negative carrier of high mobility, which is common to all metals and presumably to be identified with the electron, has given rise to certain misgivings, despite the complete analogy between this theory and the accepted theory of electrolytic dissociation. It is true that in the case of solid metals the crystalline forces, which lead to the formation of the various components of the metal into symmetrical space-lattices, produce conditions which have no counterpart in liquid electrolytes, but in the case of a liquid metal like mercury we must assume that it differs from any electrolyte -we are tempted to say from any other electrolyte-only in as far as one of its ions has properties which differ very greatly in degree, but probably not in kind, from the properties of other ions. If therefore we should ultimately find that the Arrhenius theory of ionization is

Electrical conductivity anomaly in silver vadadium-tellurite glasses at temperatures higher than a characteristic temperature: evidence for an ionic-nonadiabatic polaronic mixed conduction

Electrical conduction anomaly was observed in the mixed ion-polaron regime for xAg2O-40TeO2-(60-x)V2O5 glassy system with 0 ≤x≤ 50 mol%, which were prepared by common melt quenching method. For the understudied glasses, the temperature dependence of dc electrical conductivity was measured from a characteristic temperature to 380 K, which certified their semiconducting nature. The measured condu...

Corrosion Behavior of Dental Amalgams, in Vitro Tests

Tarnish and Corrosion behavior of three Commercial dental amalgams namely Am.1, Am.2, Am.3, have been investigated by utilizing in vitro tests. The corrosion and/or dissolution rate of the three dental amalgams were studied in 0.9 wt% NaCl Solution, artificial saliva and Ringers solution. Potentiodynamic polarization technique was employed to study cathodic and anodic polarization behavior, fro...

Surface-charge-governed ion transport in nanofluidic channels.

A study of ion transport in aqueous-filled silica channels as thin as 70 nm reveals a remarkable degree of conduction at low salt concentrations that departs strongly from bulk behavior: In the dilute limit, the electrical conductances of channels saturate at a value that is independent of both the salt concentration and the channel height. Our data are well described by an electrokinetic model...

Magnetotransport in Co-doped ZnO nanowires.

Electrical and magnetotransport measurements were performed on individual Co-doped ZnO dilute magnetic semiconductor nanowires. The electron transport studies show that the electron mobility could be as high as 75 cm(2)/(V.s), and we observed positive magnetoresistivity (MR) at low magnetic field and negative MR at higher magnetic field. s-d exchange-induced spin splitting of the conduction ban...

Investigations on the structural, electrical properties and conduction mechanism of CuO nanoflakes

Copper oxide (CuO) nanostructures are of particular interest because of their interesting properties and promising applications in batteries, super capacitors, solar cells, gas sensors, bio sensors, nano fluids and catalysis. In Recent past, more efforts have been received to design materials with different properties which is dependent on morphology.  In this work cupric oxide nano flakes were...
